The Institute for Workplace Equality is proud to announce its first ever Higher Education Compliance Symposium on March 27, 2019 in Washington, D.C.

Many of the nation’s largest public and private universities have recently been the focus of deep dive OFCCP audits. Join us, and other higher education institution leaders and practitioners, as we survey and discuss the latest legal and enforcement trends in EEO and affirmative action that are affecting higher education.

OFCCP Director Craig Leen will be presenting the keynote address.

The program will cover the following:

  • OFCCP’s many new Directives and their impact on and opportunities for higher education,
  •  OFCCP’s modification to the Functional Affirmative Action Plan program and the Higher Education Pilot Program
  • Audits, investigations and enforcement trends having a unique impact on higher education
  • Recent legal challenge to Affirmative Action in university admissions

  • What new OFCCP Directives regarding transparency, compensation, AAP verification, contractor recognition say and what they mean to higher education institutions
  • The unique aspects of pay systems (e.g. payment in the form of grants, endowments, etc.)   at higher education institutions and educating OFCCP about that – specifically responding to the agency’s “one size fits all” approach to pay,
  • Focus on challenges of institutional expert’s statistics (i.e. regression) and methodology not mirroring that of enforcement agency and private plaintiff’s analysis
  • Issue of who is an “employee” at higher education institutions (e.g. student workers, post docs, medical school residents) and who is ultimately protected by OFCCP
  • Updates on the proposed Excellence in Disability Inclusion Award and The Leadership in Equal Access and Diversity Award proposal opportunities for higher education institution recognition and audit moratoriums
  • Lessons learned from higher education recent deep dive OFCCP Audits and investigations
